The most important board on a deck is the one you never see: the ledger, where the structure attaches to the house. Bad ledger flashing rots the house wall behind it; bad ledger fastening is how decks end up in the news. We frame decks to code — correct footings, joist sizing, span and fastening — and flash the connection so the house behind the deck stays dry. Everything visible gets built on top of that discipline.
For surfaces, Texas sun is the deciding vote. Cedar looks beautiful and asks for regular care in return; composite costs more up front and mostly stops asking. We build both, along with rails that meet code, stairs that land right, and repairs to existing decks — re-boarding sound frames, and telling you honestly when a frame isn't sound.
What deck work includes
- Code-compliant framing — footings, spans and fastening
- Ledger flashing that protects the house wall
- Cedar and composite decking and rail systems
- Stairs, landings and built-in benches
- Re-boarding and repair of structurally sound existing decks

Common questions
- Cedar or composite?
- Cedar for the look and the lower entry price, if you'll maintain it; composite for the decade of not thinking about it. In full Texas sun composite also runs hotter underfoot — worth knowing before barefoot season.
- Can you fix my existing deck instead of rebuilding?
- If the frame and footings are sound, yes — new boards and rails on a good frame is honest work. If the ledger or posts are compromised, repair is lipstick; we'll show you what we find and let the frame make the call.
